Fantastic 2 weeks at this lovely CL

This CL deserves all the plaudits in these recent reviews. We’ve just had a fantastic 2 weeks and were made very welcome by Nicola. The site is well located near the A46 giving easy access to Lincoln and Newark; is secure and has the most amazing farm dog walks. Whilst there we saw roe deer and hares and were entertained by the red arrows. Reviewers mention the road noise which is low and didn’t detract from our enjoyment of our surroundings. The pitches are spacious and flat and the information kiosk was exceptional. Having not used a service metered pitch before, we were cautious about cost but despite using appliances as usual our electric cost was a very reasonable £11.5 a week. There is so much to see and do in the local area and we really enjoyed the Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln Cathedral and Castle. The city has an excellent shopping centre plus a variety of independent shops in upper Lincoln. We also visited the interesting Civil War Museum at Newark and can also recommend going a bit further to the lovely small town of Southwell where there is a fascinating Cathedral and ruined Abbey and the Southwell Workhouse. We would definitely recommend this CL and wouldn’t hesitate to come and stay again.

Such a friendly, relaxed, beautiful CL with plenty of interesting places locally.

Now then.....I'm not very good at writing novels so I'll just do a list for you.
PROS:
1. We met the lovely Nicola who was very friendly and informative about all.
2. The pitches are well kept and you could position in any direction within your pitch.
3. Everybody around us was very friendly and it was lovely to meet such nice people.
4. Not far to shops, garden centre, Lincoln City, museums etc etc.
5. Fabulous array of dog walks with a welcome dog shower on site and waste bins.
6. Fully serviced pitches, wow!
7. Fabulous Information shed with all sorts of helpful things, even a good stock of DVDs should you wish to feast your eyes upon them.
8. Although quite near to the A46, traffic noise was extremely low and for me unnoticeable apart from the Red Arrows (based at nearby RAF Waddington) passing overhead on two days...Marvellous!
9. It is a farm and I would have expected more activity but unless you can hear sugar beet grow it was really quiet, perfect for a peaceful stay just lounging around, doing very little, like I did mainly.
10. This is for 10/10 we'll be back!
Ok now for the CONS:
1. None.

Our stay at Sky barn farm was over the sweltering summer solstice weekend. We were made very welcome by the owners and the information available on site was comprehensive. Early morning dog walks around the farm fields are fabulous. Several deer and numerous hares were sighted each morning. The pitches are well maintained hard standing and equipped with coin operated electric hookup and water station.
The setting is tranquil, only a hum from A46 is noticeable if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction, however, it’s unnoticeable when walking around the fields.
Overall an excellent CL for a break.

Clarification from Skybarn Farm CL: Our meters are not coin operated. Our visitors pay for any electric they use at the end of their stay by cash or bank transfer

What a great site, Nicola was so helpful in explaining what wild animals we may see etc. We will certainly be using this site again when we next visit this area of the country.

We booked Sky Barn Farm CL for 4 nights after which we wished we could have stayed longer. Booking and paying were all efficiently managed online with almost immediate confirmation, details regarding site access and information about the CL and the surrounding area. The website is a great source of information and the downloadable Digital Guide Book is absolutely brilliant. Nicola and Richard have created an excellent CL with secure coded access gate, no CCTV of the fully serviced pitches on hard standing with ample grass plots between for sitting out. The chemical disposal point is well placed and the information hut is full of useful guides, walks (including circulars around the farm) and even OS maps for campers to use (which we did). We were on pitch 1 and parked the caravan with a view of the wildlife area. We were rewarded with sightings of a Barn Owl and Brown Hares each evening and a variety of birds from the comfort of our caravan. We also spotted a Roe deer buck and doe. Nicola gave us a warm welcome on our first day to make sure everything was OK and again before we left. She was never intrusive and gave us some very useful tips on visiting Lincoln. The only negative (and it’s very minor compared to all the positives), is road noise from the nearby A46 but only when the wind is from the west. That said, it only happened on one day of our visit and didn’t interfere with our enjoyment. I could wax lyrical about this CL for ages but enough said and we will certainly visit again. Finally, I have voted for this CL in the CAMH Club annual awards. If you visit, I’m sure you will too!

Have been wanting to stay here for quite some time but it is always booked up, luckily we managed to book a long weekend and immediately on arrival could see why it is so popular. Excellent pre-arrival information from Nicola, the owner, she sent the most comprehensive information email I have ever received. Excellent access from the A1/A46, coded entrance and CCTV on site. Large well spaced out fully serviced pitches, metered electric at a very reasonable cost. The site has the best dog walk I have ever encountered, approx 2 mile circular around their farmland where we saw deer, hares and an abundance of birds. Note this CL does not have any toilet/shower facilities if this is important to you. The site is immaculate, open and not shaded, a very slight hum of traffic in the distance from the A46 but this didn't bother us at all. During our stay we had a lovely tapas lunch at Ole Ole tapas in Lincoln (dog friendly in the bar area) - I advise you to book as it was very busy, and a fabulous Sunday lunch at the Five Bells in Bassingham nearby (again dog friendly in the bar) and again very busy so book in advance. Will definitely return soon to this site. A real gem.

We had a lovely 3 night break at Skybarn Farm as a “first time tow” with a new Car! Ideally located off main roads meant this was a great choice! The Farm site has lovely marked walks around their fields and water, electric (metered) and waste connections to each pitch was a bonus. Nicola the owner came over to welcome us and also wish us a good journey home which was a nice touch. Lincoln is an easy day out and we also visited International Bomber Command Centre which was fascinating. This year’s poppy display featuring a Lancaster was well worth a visit. Highly likely we will return at some point. Thankyou.

After 10 years of fun and adventure staying at club sites only, we took the plunge to stay at our first CL site to allow us to attend an event dear to us in Lincoln - and we were delighted to find such a gem in the English countryside. From the moment of making contact communication was prompt, transparent, informative and impressively organised - even their very own fabulous digital guide which is top notch. Nicola, one half of the team, is a delight and has thought of everything to make your stay as seamless and enjoyable from the moment of arrival. The site itself is amazing; from its secure entry/exit, impeccable pitch layout, manicured grasslands with beautiful seasonal flowers, hedgerows and trees, an encyclopedia of information in the designated Information Hut and even, and this is why Nicola is so fab, the availabity of a plastic bag in the event you forget yours - and yes, we did forget ours! Pitches are serviced with metered electricity - a plus point in my view as it makes us more accountable for our usage and therefore more responsible hopefully. The organisation of this is just first class - Nicola has thought of everything. On site there is a first class designated walk for you and your furry companion along the many hedgerows of the farm, accompanied by a well illustrated guide which highlights the various animals and birds to be found. Accessibility to amenities near and far is a comfortable walk, cycle or jump on a bus, and the local pub has a delight of a menu to try. There is a lovely garden centre nearby, within walking distance - it's not dog friendly sadly. McDonald's is opposite as well as petrol station and supermarkets within the vicinity. Vehicle hire is also available. This is a working farm, so you will experience farm traffic every now and then, but I like that being a "Townie". This really is a site to visit, we're so impressed we've booked for next year already!
